I’ve never been the type of person who gets really excited about organization. Despite my love for home decor I’m actually pretty messy. I hate to admit that because I so badly want to seem like an organized person but in reality I’m just not. I’m the kind of creative who’s late all the time, not the kind who color-codes her pens.
But the disarray of moving into a new house gave me major anxiety, so I’ve made a complete 180 from my messy ways. Okay maybe not quite a 180. But definitely a 110. I’m on my way to becoming NEAT.
Shockingly to me (and probably my mom,) I have quite a few organizational tips to share so this post kicks off a weekly segment during which I’ll share one area of the house you can focus on to find your way to *~ eternal neatness.~*
This week we’re talking SHOES and how to most effectively hide them from your husband store them.
Mudroom Before and After
Shop:
Storage Baskets (I got the large size)
Amazing what a few coats of paint will do! The credit goes to my mom on this one – she sanded down and gave this guy a few coats of paint. Now Codie can comfortably wait here by the garage door to greet us.
The storage baskets came with cotton liners so you could keep more delicate things than shoes in them if you wanted.
Acrylic Stackable Shoe Bins for Closet Storage
Shop:
Small Stackable Bins for sandals and flats
I recently got these stackable shoe bins from the Container Store and I’m not sure how I ever lived without them.
I used to have all of these shoes lined along the bottom of this closet (and of course they didn’t all fit, so they spread out into the room too.) And now they take up the space of just three pairs previously! And this is just half of my closet, I could fit double the amount of bins if I wanted to.
What makes these so great is that they can stack in any variation you want them to, and all of the sizes stack together too. The Container Store has plenty of options but what I like about these ones is there’s no drawer or closure, so there’s truly no barrier from my lazy self putting my shoes here when I take them off.
The small bins can fit two pairs of most sandals and flats. I could only fit one pair of some of my tennis shoes. The tall bins can fit most heels but I would recommend getting larger boot boxes for booties and boots.
To see these in all their glory watch my Instagram story saved under my “Organization” highlight.
Not sure you could even fit these acrylic bins? Maybe this under-the-bed option will work better. Let me know if you have any more innovative shoelutions (hehe) in the comments!
