Our house is way too small to host dinner parties. And if you’re like us, most of your dinners are more in-front-of-the-tv affairs rather than sit-down dinners. But since I love a gorgeous tablescape, I couldn’t resist creating one this year since we actually have a (small) dining table.
One of my favorite family traditions is having Christmas dinner (at 4pm) in my parent’s dining room with my family. My mom always puts out a tablecloth and uses antique crystal, silverware and china. It’s one of the few times no one has a screen in front of them and it makes me feel so warm and fuzzy to be sharing conversation with all of the people I love. Not to mention we gorge on delicious casseroles, salads, ham and rolls. Does it get any better than Christmas rolls?

The Place Setting:
Champagne Gold Silverware:
I finally splurged and am now the proud owner of gold silverware! (Tbh these will be our *special occasion* silverware.) This champagne stainless steel silverware comes in a 20-piece set for $35, which is a pretty good deal since a lot of these (including the black set I wanted from Target) are the same price for a 5-piece set. I’ve done some research on where to buy the best gold silverware and from what I’ve found, Target has the best reviews. I’ve read West Elm silverware tarnishes in the dishwasher, while the Target ones hold up. God bless the mothership.
DIY Gift Tag Place Setting:
Every year I make DIY gift tags for Christmas gifts, and these also make cute place setting tags. I just buy black and craft paper colored tags, some yarn and decorative paper to cut trees from. Sometimes I hot glue bows. You could write guests’ names these tags in gold sharpie.

The Centerpiece:
Since there’s only two of us, I used a table runner that I’ve previously used on a rectangular table and just set two place settings. But if you have a round table (and enough people to go all around) you can still do a gorgeous centerpiece. I think a thin wreath surrounding some of the elements above would make a great centerpiece instead of a runner.
Jar Snow Globe Tutorial:
These Pinterest-inspired jar snow globes are so easy to make and personalize. All you need is a jar, some bottle brush trees and fake snow. In lieu of fake snow I’ve also seen cotton used at the bottom. Since the opening of my jar couldn’t fit my hand, I found it easiest to use the fake snow because it can be poured. Create a thick layer of snow and drop in your bottle brush trees. I used this larger one and these smaller two for some depth. I used the end of a sprig to situate my trees in the jar. And that’s it! In my other jar, I used a gold spray-painted golden retriever next to a bottle brush tree. I saved the video of making these to my Instagram highlights.
