I’m making a few updates to our master bedroom and I wanted some simple, neutral wall art to hang above our dresser to cover some ugly outlets. And because we’re in the middle of a quarantine I figured why not just DIY it!
I love how texture makes otherwise simple art very earthy and interesting. Admittedly, I’m convinced a toddler could make the painted portion of these, but you can find them on Esty for over $100!
Here’s what you’ll need to create this inexpensive wall art:
For the paintings:
- Canvas(es)
- Liquitex modeling paste (this is how you get the paint super textured)
- Your choice of paints (I used two leftover wall paint samples)
- Paint knives
For the frames:
- A few thin slats of wood for frames (I used stakes from Home Depot)
- Stain (optional – I used a leftover walnut stain)
- Miter saw to cut frames (if you don’t have one you can ask them to cut your stakes for you at your hardware store.)
- Nail gun to secure frames to canvas (if you don’t have one you could try wood glue)
